Frequently Asked Questions

It's my child's first time visiting. What do we do?

We love our first-time visitors. When entering our kid’s wing, after being checked in at our Kids Check-In Desk, they are partnered with a Host Kid in their age group that will help introduce them to new friends and help them get the VIP treatment at FiveStone Kids. Our amazing leaders, and even our kids, are trained to look after them and make an extra effort in welcoming, comforting, and helping them. From the moment a child arrives to the minute they are picked up to go home, we want to make sure they have the most fun and incredible experience possible. Oh, and to make sure their visit ends on a high note, our first-time guests will even receive a goody bag on their way out! It’s our little way of saying, “Thanks for visiting FiveStone!”

What should I be prepared to do at check-in and check-out?

When you arrive at FiveStone, you will come to the FivesStone Kids Check-In Desk. We require all kids to be checked in by an adult. For our first-time visitors, we will have you complete an information card for your child that includes such information as parent name, child(ren) name(s), date of birth, age/grade, physical address, parent email address, and parent contact number. We do recommend arriving approximately 15-20 minutes before service begins to go through the first-time check-in process. Once checked in, we will print out a security tag for your child to wear and give the parents a corresponding security tag. Then, our awesome leaders will escort you into the Kids Wing, show you where your child will be during the services, introduce the parents to their small group leaders, etc.

After the service has concluded, to pick up your child, you will enter the Fivestone Kids wing the same way you entered. Parents are free to go to their child’s small group room and will pick up their child. Then, as you prepare to exit the kid’s wing, the parent will present their security tag to our leaders, who will verify it with your child’s security tag. Safety is our number one priority at FiveStone Kids!

What do the kids do on Sunday mornings?

In our small groups, kids of all ages can connect with other kids and leaders who will make them feel right at home. You see, at FiveStone, we believe that no one should walk alone, and that extends all the down to our kiddos. By connecting with others, they’ll develop relationships and friendships that will serve as a source of encouragement, acceptance, and belonging. Through our small group and large group worship times, kids will begin to GROW in a relationship with Jesus. By learning about Jesus’ love, His plan for their lives, and discovering their spiritual gifts He’s given to them, we’re confident our kids will develop a growing faith that will lead them to become lifelong followers of Jesus.

But that’s not it! You see, at FiveStone Kids, we also want our kids to be able to GO and put their faith in action. Every week, kids of all ages have opportunities to serve at FiveStone! That’s right, from the earliest of ages, we believe that serving the local church, our surrounding communities, and even all over the globe is a crucial component to living out our faith. That’s why we create opportunities for our kids to serve in various ways each week, as well as offer additional service and mission-based projects throughout the year!

My child is attending a service with a friend/family member who is in a different age group. Can they attend together in the same group?

Because our curriculum is adapted in preschool and elementary formats to fit best the age group being taught, we encourage kids to attend the small group that best matches their age. However, if a child is uncomfortable attending that group alone, apart from their friend/family member, they may attend the small group with their friend/family member as long as they are similar in age (ie. Preschool stays with preschool ages, and elementary stays with elementary ages.

Are there any tools provided by FiveStone to help parents connect with what their kids are learning in church?

Absolutely! Partnering with families in the discipleship of their children is a core value for FiveStone Kids! Here are just a few of the ways to stay connected with what your child is learning at FiveStone Kids:

  1. Visit our Parent Hub where you will find a ton of helpful parenting resources for each phase of a child’s life.
  2. Follow us on Facebook. You’ll find us by searching for “FiveStone Kids.” Throughout the week, we post videos, devotionals, conversation starters, and recaps from Sunday lessons.
What should I bring for my child during services?

For our infants and toddlers, please bring any necessary diapers, pull-ups, sippy cup/bottle, a pacifier, formula, and an extra change of clothes. It’s best to have everything inside of a diaper bag or backpack, if possible. During the Check-In process, we will provide you with an extra security sticker to place on your child’s diaper bag/backpack; that way, we can ensure we are always using the correct supplies.

Please do not bring any solid food or medications of any kind, as our leaders are not authorized to dispense any medication. When you drop your child off in the nursery/toddler room, our small group leaders will ask you for specific instructions/routines that might help us best care for your child. We can assure you, our kids are the most treasured possessions at FiveStone Kids, and we will treat them with the utmost care and compassion.

If for any reason, a parent is needed during the service, we will send you a text message at the telephone number you provided to us during check-in. So, as a rule of thumb, it’s always best to keep your cell phone out and near you during the service, just in case we need to contact you for any reason.

I might be interested in serving at FiveStone Kids. Do you accept new volunteers?

Are you kidding? We love volunteers and always look for new leaders to serve on the FiveStone Kids team. We can never have enough people being the hands and feet of Jesus to our precious kids and families and are always welcoming new volunteers to pour into the lives of our kids. If you would like to become more involved or find out about ways you can serve within the FiveStone Kids ministry, please let us know here.
